A passionate San Leandro-based volunteer and nonprofit executive, Rose Padilla Johnson serves as CEO of Davis Street, a position she has held since 1991. Leveraging positive relationships within the community as well as a strong business acumen, Rose Padilla Johnson has grown the organization into an all-encompassing family resource center with an operating budget of over $15 million annually. Once-small in scope, Davis Street now serves over 15,000 San Leandro and Alameda County residents each year under Ms. Johnson’s guidance.

Under her leadership, the nonprofit organization provides food, clothing, medical, dental and behavioral health services to nearly 5,000 individuals each month. Partnerships with Alameda County Fire Department and Firefighters Local 55, make Davis Street's annual holiday basket program possible. The program provides 1,000 families with a complete holiday meal and new toys for each of the children enrolled. In addition to the food and toys - San Leandro Police Officers Association partner with Davis Street for the annual bike give away. Last year nearly 500 low-income children received a new bike and helmet thanks to the San Leandro Police Officers.

Given her lifetime dedication to providing support services to those who need it most, Ms. Johnson has earned awards from prominent organizations. She is a recipient of the Rotary International's Service Above Self award as well as the United Nations' Global Citizen Award. In 2015 she was named Women of the Year in the 18th Assembly District by Assemblymember Bonta. She is the recipient of Oakland Magazine Hometown Hero Award, San Francisco Business Times Women of Distinction Award, in 2012 the City of San Leandro declared May 14, 2012 Rose Padilla Johnson Day in San Leandro.

Supplementing her work at Davis Street, she has been a member of numerous nonprofit organizations, including the Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association, California Child Development Administrators Association, and the Alameda County Childcare Local Planning Council.
